Dime qué cuerpo tienes… y te diré cómo entrenarlo y alimentarlo

Como todo nutriólogo sabemos que en los años 40´s el científico William Herbert Sheldon estableció el somatotipo, entiéndase somatotipo como la forma física que tiene el cuerpo. Los tipos de cuerpo se dividen en 3:

Ectomorfo-- delgado
Mesomorfo-- atlético
Endomorfo-- gordo

A pesar de que es una teoría vieja, su base nos sirve para comparar qué tipo de cuerpo tiene nuestro paciente y hacia donde tiende, que es algo bastante importante a la hora de realizar la dieta y sugerir el tipo de entrenamiento y de esta manera obtener resultados más positivos.

¿Qué es el somatotipo?

Término correspondiente al conjunto de características que determinan el “biotipo o forma del cuerpo” de un sujeto. Se trata de un método objetivo para la evaluación del físico total.

Cálculo del somatotipo por planilla

Endomorfismo:

Tríceps
Subescapular
Supraespinal

Mesomorfismo:

Estatura (cm)
Diámetro del húmero (cm)
Diámetro del fémur (cm)
Perímetro de bíceps tensionado (cm)
Perímetro de la pantorrilla (cm)

Ectomorfismo:

Peso del atleta en kilogramos
Se calcula el coeficiente peso-altura (CAP), en centímetros, al dividir la estatura entre la raíz cúbica del peso corporal.
Se procede a marcar el valor más cercano en la planilla.
Se marca con un cuadrado el valor que corresponde de manera vertical con el dato obtenido en el punto 3.

Cálculo del somatotipo por fórmula

Mesomorfismo

Mesomorfia=0.858*A+0.601*B+0.188*C+0.161*D-0.131*E+4.5

Donde:

A=amplitud del húmero en centímetros

B=amplitud del fémur en centímetros

C=circunferencia del brazo relajado corregido (se resta el pliegue tricipital)

D=circunferencia de la pantorrilla corregida (se resta el pliegue de la pantorrilla en centímetros)

E= estatura en centímetros

Endomorfismo

Endomorfia = 0.7182 + (0.1451 * PC) - (0.00068 * PC²) + (0.0000014 * PC³)

Donde:

PC = (p. tricipital + p.subescapular + p.supraespinal ) * (170.18 / estatura (cm))

Ectomorfismo

Primero es necesario obtener el índice ponderal (IP)

IP=estatura / raíz cúbica (peso)
Ectomorfia= 0.732 * IP-28.58

Es la representación gráfica del somatotipo.

¿Qué mediciones tengo que realzar?

Peso corporal
Estatura
Pliegues (tricipital, subescapular, supraespinal, pantorrilla)
Circunferencia (brazo, pantorrilla)
Diámetros (húmero y fémur)
Utilidad en el consultorio de Nutrición.

Motivación al paciente

Es sumamente motivador para el paciente ver su evolución en la somatocarta. Ya que conforme disminuyen los pliegues o aumenta la masa muscular el punto se va moviendo más hacia la mesomorfia.
